Mary's father is three times as old as Mary. If the sum of their ages is 56 years, what are their ages. pleaseee helpp in steps i am 12 years old

Before I help you with this problem, please show what you got or don't understand about your previous problem.

it is very confusing and i do not understand the remaining questions are of the same kind so if u show me how to solve this i would earn and use the same for the rest

This is different from the other problem you posted. Please post your work for the other one about the size of one piece of paper.

Also, please use the same name for your posts.

in the previous question thesaid me the thickness of 12 sheets of paperand that i had to find the thickness of 1 piece so in order to find the thickness of one piece i had to divid the 2 numbers mentioned in the question that is 12 and 2.4mm 2.4 is the thickness of 12 sheets so i had to divide 12 and 2.4 in order to get the thickness of 1 piece so after dividing i got 5mm per piece that is what i understand and applied the same for the rest of my questions but this question which i posted is difficult and i have 5 such same questions so yes

Thank you.

can u explain the question for me now

Mary's father is three times as old as Mary. If the sum of their ages is 56 years, what are their ages.

Let Mary's age be M

M + 3M = 56

4M = 56

M = 56/4 = 14
