if i get A's in all my classes which are 4 credits, 3 credits, 3 credits, 1 credit, 1 credit and I get like a C in another 1 credit class, will this have an effect on my GPA...I'm at 3.7 right now and really tried to stay on deans list. :(

(4*4) + (4*6) + (4 * 2 + 2 = ?

Divide the above answer by 13 to find this semesters GPA.

thank you, I never knew how to calculate it

You're welcome.

To determine the impact of getting a C in a 1-credit class on your GPA, we need to calculate the GPA for each class individually and then find the overall GPA. Here's how you can do it:

1. Assign each grade a grade point value. Generally, A is 4.0, B is 3.0, C is 2.0, and so on. However, this can vary depending on your institution's grading scale.

2. Multiply the grade point value by the number of credits for each class to get the quality points. For example, if you get an A (4.0) in a 4-credit class, you would have 4 * 4.0 = 16 quality points for that class.

3. Repeat this process for each class you have, including the 1-credit class in which you received a C. Let's assume you received a C (2.0) in the 1-credit class, so you would have 1 * 2.0 = 2 quality points for that class.

4. Sum up the total quality points you have achieved across all your classes. In your case, you have 16 + 3 * 4.0 + 1 * 2.0 + 1 * 2.0 = 32 quality points.

5. Calculate the total credits you have taken. In your case, this would be 4 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 13 credits.

6. Divide the total quality points by the total credits. In your case, 32 quality points / 13 credits = a GPA of approximately 2.46.

Based on this calculation, getting a C in the 1-credit class will have a slight impact on your GPA. However, your new GPA of 2.46 may not be high enough to maintain your current GPA of 3.7 or achieve the dean's list.
