Mathematics Measurement Conversions Scale Reduction/Enlargement
For these problems the instructions say to tell whether each scale reduces, enlarges, or preserves the size of the actual object. Here are my problems and answers:
1. 10 cm: 1 dm
Ans: reduces
2. 3 ft:3 yd
enlarges
3. 5 km: 5 m
enlarges
4. 1760 yd: 5280 ft
reduces
Think about what the size actually represents in meters. Whats the amount of meters 10 cm represents? And 1dm?
Just calculate everything to meters and see if the length is bigger/smaller/equal.
