by imperial countries. Include why Japan stopped being isolated, who took power in Japan, and what Japan decided to do with its new power.

They kept everyone out but a few Dutch traders. They particularly evicted the Catholic missionaries.

It was the United States that finally opened the country up, and they did not have imperialistic motives. They adopted modern weaponry from the West as soon as they saw it.
