Can you tell me what, (in greatest to least) the order is... 1/2, 4/5, 5/6, 2/3 7/8, and 1/4. this will be greatly appreciated.Thx.

Yes, I could tell you, but I won't.

Change the fractions into decimals. Then you'll be able to arrange them in order.

well the really easy way is to convert to decimals but we should do it the hard way I suppose

for LCD we need three twos for 8 and a three and a five
so
8 * 3 * 5 = 120 , ah well

1/2 = 60/120
4/5 = 96/120
5/6 = 100/120
2/3 = 80/120
7/8 = 105/120
1/4 = 30/120

Now you can do it :)

LOL - I am really not paying attention and missed the pattern

note that except for 1/4, the numerator is always one less than the denominator
therefore 1 - the fraction keeps getting lees and the fraction gets bigger as the numerator and denominator get bigger
I mean obviously 7/8 is bigger than 1/2 :)

To order the fractions from greatest to least, you can compare their values by finding a common denominator and then comparing the numerators.

Let's start by finding a common denominator for all the fractions. The least common multiple (LCM) of the denominators will be our common denominator. In this case, the denominators are 2, 5, 6, 3, 8, and 4.

The LCM of 2, 5, 6, 3, 8, and 4 is 120.

Now, we need to convert each fraction to have a denominator of 120, so that we can compare their numerators directly.

For 1/2, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 60 to get 60/120.
For 4/5, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 24 to get 96/120.
For 5/6, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 20 to get 100/120.
For 2/3, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 40 to get 80/120.
For 7/8, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 15 to get 105/120.
For 1/4, multiply both the numerator and denominator by 30 to get 30/120.

Now that all the fractions have the same denominator, we can compare their numerators to determine their order:

105/120 > 100/120 > 96/120 > 80/120 > 60/120 > 30/120

So, in greatest to least order, the fractions are:

7/8, 5/6, 4/5, 2/3, 1/2, 1/4
