Write the result in scientific notation. Multiply

(8•10^3)(7•10^5)
A.5.6•10^16
B.5.6•10^9
C.1.5•10^16
D.1.5•10^9
Is the answer A or B?? because 8•7=56 and you put a decimal between the five and six but if I add the exponents I get Eight and if I multiply I get 15??

8 * 10 ^ 3 * 7 * 10 ^ 5 =

8 * 7 * 10 ^ 3 * 10 ^ 5 =

56 * 10 ^ 8 = 5.6 * 10 * 10 ^ 8 = 5.6 * 10 ^ 9

Remark:

a ^ n * a ^ m = a ^ ( m + n )

10 ^ 3 * 10 ^ 5 = 10 ^ ( 3 + 5 ) = 10 ^ 8

10 = 10 ^ 1

10 * 10 ^ 8 = 10 ^ 1 * 10 ^ 8 = 10 ^ ( 1 + 8 ) = 10 ^ 9

I don't understand what your meaning I still don't know what the answer is??

Answer B

Thank you.

To multiply numbers in scientific notation, you multiply the coefficients and add the exponents.

In this case, (8•10^3)(7•10^5) can be solved as follows:

Multiplying the coefficients:
8 • 7 = 56

Adding the exponents:
10^3 • 10^5 = 10^(3+5) = 10^8

So the result is 56 • 10^8. However, this is not in scientific notation yet.

Scientific notation requires the coefficient to be between 1 and 10, so we can rewrite 56 as 5.6 by moving the decimal one place to the left.

Therefore, the result in scientific notation is 5.6•10^8.

So, the correct answer is B. 5.6•10^8.
