Hallie is trying to win the grand prize on a game show. Should she try her luck by spinning a wheel with 6 equal sections labeled 1 to 6 and hope she gets a 5, or should she roll two number cubes and hope she gets the same number on both cubes? Explain.

This is what i think...

Either method is equally likely.

Probability = 1/6

The spin will give success at 1/6

The dice roll will give success at 6/36 which equals 1/6.

Therefore, they both have the same chance at winning the grand prize for Hallie.

spinning the whell? pr=1/6

throwing dice: up to 36 possible ways
ways to get 5: 1,4;4,1;3,2;2,3 or 4 ways
pr(5)=4/36=1/9

so it is better to spin the wheel.

Because it says roll two number cubes and hope she gets the same number on both cubes. There are 36 total outcomes, and 6 of them are doubles, so the probability is indeed 6/36 = 1/6.

Wheel Probability = 1/6

Dice Probability = 6/36
6/36 simplified is 1/6
She can spin either because they both have the same probability
(Might be wrong)

Why is "Johnathan" advertising? And also @bobpursly you can't spell wheel? Or a typo perhaps?

@bobpursley

Oh lord ^^

@Ms.Sue

Just kidding. I'll go with whatever it is.
