you need their intersection:

x^2 = 8-x^2
...
x = ± 2

we can use symmetry and just go from 0 to 2

effective height = top curve - bottom curve
= 8-x^2 - x^2 = 8 - 2x^2

integrate, and evaluate from 0 to 2
