I have to do a scale drawing of my dresser. The height is 51 1/8in the width is 42 1/2in. My scale is 24in=1 inch

What are the scaled measurements?

Do this problem the same way I showed you for finding the scale measurements of your bed.

So 51 1/8÷24= 0.26cm?

And 42 1/2÷24=0.87cm?

Please ask your teacher again about converting feet and inches to centimeters.

It makes no sense to me.

No, 51.125(51 1/8) divided by 24 doesn't equal 0.26cm. Same with 42.5(42 1/2) divided by 24. I believe you are making a mistake with the converting of inches to centimeters.

By changing the fractions into decimals and adding them to the whole numbers, it makes it a lot easier from there. By doing Ms. Sue's way, I got the below answers.

51.125 / 24 = 2.1302083333333333333333333333333 inches = 5.410729166666666 centimeters

42.5 / 24 = 1.7708333333333333333333333333333 inches = 4.497916666666666 centimeters

I hope this helps? :)

P.S. Sorry this is a late post, I was kind of waiting for Ms. Sue to reply, and I was doing some of my own schoolwork.

To find the scaled measurements for your dresser, you need to apply the conversion factor from your scale. In this case, the scale is 24in = 1 inch.

To calculate the scaled height, you divide the actual height of the dresser by 24.
Scaled height = (51 1/8) / 24 = 2.1306 inches

To calculate the scaled width, you also divide the actual width of the dresser by 24.
Scaled width = (42 1/2) / 24 = 1.7708 inches

Therefore, the scaled measurements for your dresser are approximately 2.1306 inches in height and 1.7708 inches in width.
