a guy earns twice

a guy earns twice as much as a tutor than he does pumping gas. his total weekly wages are $150 more than that of his younger sister. she earns one quarter as much as the brother does as a tutor. how much does the brother earn as a tutor?

please explain step by stem. i don't know what x/2 mean if you use that is the equation. please help my brain doesn't function as well as others!!

gas pay = $x/hr

tutor pay = $2x/hr
sister pay = $0.50x/hr

x/2 just means 1/2 x, or 0.5x

Not knowing how many hours they work, I can't assign a number. Also, how is the guy's time split between gas jockey and tutor?

To calculate the total earnings of a person who earns twice, you would need to know the original amount earned. Let's assume the original amount earned is "x".

If the person earns twice as much, then their total earnings would be 2 times x.

So, the formula to calculate the total earnings would be: Total earnings = 2 * x.

For example, if the person originally earned $100, their total earnings would be: Total earnings = 2 * $100 = $200.
