How do you solve each of these equations for the indicated value? I'm so confused on how to do it

1. a-b=-c, for a

2. 4y+6x=12, for y

3. y=1/2x-10, for x

#1 and #2:

isolate the term you are solving for

e.g. 4y + 6x = 12 ---> 4y = -6x + 12
now divide everybody by the coefficient of the term you isolated
divide by 4
y = (-6/4)x + 12/4
y = (-3/2)x + 3

for #3, I would first multiply every term by 2, the LCM
2y = x - 20
2y + 20 = y or just turn it around: x = 2y + 20
