Please help me solve these two Rational Expressions? Sorry my addition sign does not work on my keyboard, so that is why I am using the word "plus".

1). g^2-6g-55
__________
g

2). k^3 plus k
___________
k^2 plus k-42

1. g^2 - 6g - 55 = 0

-55 = 1*(-55) = 5*(-11)
Choose the pair of factors whose sum = B
: 5, and -11.

(g+5)(g-11) = 0

g+5 = 0
g = -5.

g-11 = 0
g = 11.

Solution: g = -5, and 11.

2. k^3 + k = 0
k(k^2+1) = 0

k = 0

k^2 + 1 = 0
k^2 = -1
k = sqrt(-1) = I

Solution: k = 0, and i.

3. k^2 + k - 42 = 0
-42 = -6*7. Sum = -6 + 7 = 1 = B.
(k-6)(k+7) = 0

k-6 = 0
k = 6

k+7 = 0
k = -7.

Solution: k = -7, and 6.
