When the French starting to build forts in the Ohio River Valley, the American colonies sent George Washington to demand that they stop there claim over the area. They then refused, and George left in an hurry to gather as many men as he could to attack Fort Duquesne. They attacked and retreated to a fort that they had then built. This was attacked by the French, and George had to surrender. This escalated to many more battles, and the start of the French and Indian War, with the French and English against each other.
