I am now in a Life Span Development course. I need an example of a personal experience that involves nurture in regard to human development

My "honorary grandson" was born in Vietnam and adopted by an American family when he was six months old. Even though he still looks Vietnamese, he's thoroughly American in likes, personality, and culture.

Thank You Ms. Sue You are always there when I need you. You have given me an example that I can work with. Not that example, per say, but this helps me to make a decision about an example.

You're very welcome, Cathy.

Sure! Understanding the concept of nurture in human development is vital. One personal experience that involves nurture could be the impact of parental discipline on a child's behavior.

To provide an example, think about a situation where a child frequently misbehaves at home and school. The parents, taking a nurturing approach, decide to implement a reward system to encourage positive behavior. They set up a chart where the child can earn stickers or points for completing tasks or exhibiting good behavior. Once the child accumulates a certain number of stickers or points, they receive a small reward, such as extra playtime or a favorite treat.

This example demonstrates how the parents are consciously influencing the child's behavior through nurture. By implementing a reward system, they are shaping the child's actions and teaching them valuable life lessons, such as the importance of responsibility and positive behavior. Over time, with consistent reinforcement and encouragement, the child's behavior may improve as they understand the connection between good behavior and positive outcomes.

So, when discussing this personal experience, you can explain how nurturing influences the child's development and how the specific nurturing approach positively impacted their behavior.
