Explain a real-world problem that you used math to solve. What mathematical expressions did you use in your problem solving? Define your variables and explain your expression.

My real-world situation would be making a cake and converting the cups into oz. I needed to figure out how many cups it took to come up with 16oz. 16oz= ? cups

And I am now stuck on the last question.

1 cup = 8 ounces

I redid my answer to make it sound better. I don't think I added the last question in there know. Please let me know.

Working in accounting I deal a lot with money issues that create problems to be solved. Because of this I manage money or math problems all the time. I pay bills on a weekly basis in which my boss gives me the bills that he would like paid for that particular week. Once I have imputed the bills into the computer system I figure out how much money is left over and my boss gives me the ok to pay all of them or to hold off on a few depending on how the books look. Even if you do not work in accounting, everyone deals with a situation like this. You can fill your gas tank up all the way and when it gets empty you can figure out how many gallons you get per mile if you fill it up all the way which in my case my vehicle is 36 gallons of fuel and drive it until it’s almost empty I can divide the mileage by the total of gallons I put in it and I can figure out how many miles I got per gallon.

That looks good to me.

Great thanks!!

You're welcome!

A town in east Texas received 10 inches of rain in a two weeks. If it kept raining at this rate for a 31-day month, how much rain did the town receive

To solve the problem of converting cups to ounces, you can use a simple mathematical expression based on the conversion rate between cups and ounces. In this case, the conversion rate is 1 cup equals 8 ounces.

Let's define the variables:
- c: The number of cups
- o: The number of ounces

We want to find how many cups are equivalent to 16 ounces.
So we need to set up an equation using the given conversion rate.

Here's the expression:
o = c * 8

Now we can substitute the values into the expression: 16 = c * 8

To find c, we need to isolate it on one side of the equation.

Dividing both sides of the equation by 8, we get:
16/8 = c * 8/8
2 = c

Therefore, it takes 2 cups to make up 16 ounces.
