Find an equation in standard form of the line passing through the points (8, -5) and (-6, 2).

  • math -

    (8,-5), (-6,2)

    m = (2-(-5))/(-6-8) = 7/-14 = -1/2.

    Y = mx + b = -5
    (-1/2)*8 + b = -5
    b = -5 + 4 = -1

    Y = (-1/2)x -1
    Y = -x/2 - 1
    Multiply both sides by 2:
    2y = -x - 2
    X + 2Y = -2
