y-5/3 = 1

A)-2
B)8
C)18
D)6

You do have a typo in your original problem. PsyDAG correctly solved the problem you posted.

It should be

(y-5)/3 = 1

Multiply both sides by 3.

Add 5/3 to both sides.

y = 1 + 5/3 = 2 2/3 or 8/3

Do you have a typo in your equation?

Nope... its y-5 divided by 3 = 1

Oh, well when I solve the problem then, I get 5.33...

Because it would be like this: 3y - 15 = 1.

add 15 to both sides you then get 3y = 16 divided both sides by 3 and you get y = 5.33333 ect. that's not an answer, so am I solving it wrong?

Ms. Sue, please help me... :'(

(y-5)/3 = 1

Multiply both sides by 3.

y-5 = 3

y = 5+3

y = 8

y-5/3=1 what is the answer please answer asap
