The question is list and explain 3 public relation activities. Take a current news story and explain how each of these would be used..

I have the first part answered for 3 public relation activities
1) Research- Define the problem, Identify public, test concepts, monitor progress of campaigns
2) Counseling- Advise management in decision making, Suggest policies for internal and external communication, Train personnel to promote a positive corporate image
3) Communication- With internal publics: those w/in organizations, including employees and stockholders, With external publics: those outside organizations, including the community, news media, customers and legislators.

I don't see how a current story would apply to any of these, or maybe I'm just not comprehending.. Please help

Thanks in advance.

This article is about a controversial subject. How would you apply your pr list to it?

Well for research

Kazoo county retirees pay either 0-16 percent toward their premiums for their healthcare depending on when they retired. There are about 30 retirees paying 0 percent because of a policy that eliminated premiums for retirees living below 200 percent of the poverty level.

For counseling
The administration suggests that raising the minimum retiree contribution toward their health care premium to 20 percent

For Communication
it was discussed internally at a Kazoo County Board of Commissions
and Externally because the KAZOO gazette reported it?

am I on the right track?

Yes.

To apply these public relations activities to a current news story, you need to understand how they can be used to manage and shape public perception in a particular situation. Let's take a hypothetical current news story about a major manufacturing company facing allegations of environmental pollution.

1) Research: In this case, research would involve conducting surveys, focus groups, and collecting data to gauge public opinion and understand concerns related to environmental pollution. This research would help the company identify the specific problems they need to address and the target audience that they need to communicate with effectively.

2) Counseling: Public relations practitioners would advise the company's management on how to navigate the crisis and suggest policies to address the allegations. They may recommend initiating environmental initiatives, implementing stricter corporate social responsibility practices, or collaborating with environmental organizations to demonstrate the company's commitment to resolving the issue. Additionally, counseling might involve training spokespersons to effectively communicate the company's perspective, actions, and commitment to resolving the issue.

3) Communication: In this situation, effective communication is crucial. Public relations practitioners would need to communicate with both internal and external publics. Internally, they would communicate with employees and stockholders to ensure they have accurate information about the company's response to the allegations and its commitment to addressing the issue. This could include newsletters, town hall meetings, or intranet updates. Externally, the company would communicate with the community, news media, customers, and legislators through press releases, media statements, public meetings, and social media platforms to address concerns, provide updates on remedial actions, and showcase their commitment to environmental sustainability.

By applying these public relations activities to the current news story, the company can work to restore public trust, manage the crisis, and maintain a positive corporate image. It's important to note that the specific strategies and tactics employed would vary based on the unique circumstances of the news story and the company involved.
