It takes 1.5 hours to walk three miles. How far can he go if he walked for 4 3/4 hours?

  • 6th grade math -

    Set up a proportion. Cross multiply and solve for x.

    1.5/3 = 4.75/x

    1.5x = 14.25

    x = 14.25 / 1.5

    x = 9.5 hours
