explain how the clothing women wore during the 1920s was indicative of their changing role.

  • socials 11 -

Women were beginning to be more independent than their mothers. My mother was a young woman in the 1920s. Here skirts were shorter -- knee length and even above the knees. She sometimes wore slacks -- and (gasp) she had her hair cut short. She was also a college graduate and worked outside the home until I was born in the 30s.
