Der Drucker gehört ____ Frau.?

die

der

das

dem

i feel like it's die but i don't want to get tricked. it could also be 'der'. which one is it? :(

Hi Agnes,

it is der. The woman is feminine so I can see why are would think it is die, but it is der Drucker gehoert der frau since it relates back to the printer.

Take care,
Heinke

der is correct as it is third case (dative). Wem gehört der Drucker? Der Frau.

Der Drucker gehört der Frau

To determine which article "der Drucker" takes in the sentence "Der Drucker gehört ____ Frau?", you need to consider the grammatical gender of "Drucker" and the case required by the verb "gehört".

In this case, "Drucker" is a masculine noun, and the verb "gehört" is a dative verb. When a masculine noun is used with a dative verb, it usually takes the article "dem" in German.

Therefore, the correct answer is "dem". The sentence should be: "Der Drucker gehört dem Frau."
