If you are getting rid of slavery, how are you going to care for 3.5 million homeless, unemployed and uneducated former slaves?
What I thought was to make schools and build homes for them so the slaves can make a career for themselves, however I am not thinking like a person from 1815...
Is my answer okay or not? If not please help to make it better.
Some can get paying jobs doing the same things they were doing before. Some could be given land so they can build their own homes and have their own subsistence farms.
I'd wait on schools since at that time, many people didn't go to school and were illiterate.
