I'm confused on how to answer a rotation question. If I have a picture and it rotates 270 degrees to where the top of the picture is now to the left of the page did the figure rotate 270 degrees to the right or left? Since it is clockwise I was thinkng to the right but then I wasn't sure. Thanks

Clockwise is to the right.

To determine whether the figure rotated 270 degrees to the right or left, it is essential to understand the concepts of rotational direction and orientation.

In the standard Cartesian coordinate system, when a figure rotates clockwise, it rotates to the right. Similarly, when a figure rotates counterclockwise, it rotates to the left.

In your case, the picture rotated 270 degrees to the point where the top of the picture is now on the left side of the page. Since the rotation is clockwise, you can infer that the picture rotated 270 degrees to the right.

To help visualize this, imagine you are standing on the spot where the rotation occurred and facing the original top of the picture. If you rotate your body 270 degrees to the right, the new top of the picture will align with your left side.

Remember, when dealing with rotations, the choice of reference point and direction of rotation will affect whether it is considered to the right or left.
