Have you drafted a potential outline yet? Doing that and drafting a good thesis statement go hand in hand. Usually you need to start with a rough thesis, then draft the outline, and then start refining both.

You have stated your subject. Read this to learn how to turn your subject into a thesis: http://www.powa.org/index.php/explain/subject-to-thesis

I changed the story to A thousand splendid Suns. This is my thesis - what do you think
Women in today's world are treated differently to how they used to be
treated in the 1960s. Especially in the book written by Khaled Hosseini
called "A Thousand Splendid Suns" where it shows readers how men treat
women in societies that are patriarchal and how they take the word of
men more seriously then women in their societies. Khaled Hosseini's
novel shows how unfair women are treated in society that are controlled
by men. Hosseini's work lets the reader know that in this planet there
are men that think this world is cut out for men and not women.

    Edit ideas:
Women in today's world are treated differently than they were in the 1960s.

In the book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khalid Hosseini, he shows how women in patriarchal societies are treated by men.
Their opinions are discounted, {you need more examples here like}... they can't own property, drive, or go places alone...

Hosseini's work shows how unfairly women are treated in male dominated cultures. It shows that in this world there are men that think this world was designed for men, with women as subservient, dull and generally unequal in all ways.

This subject gets my goat! My mom was an honor graduate in physics and psychology. She raised me on social worker wages, as the science jobs were all administered by men, who hired men.
