I'm writing a book review in APA and I need to cite a quote. Would it be similar to an essay where I would do the following:

(Author's last name, date of publication, page number)
(Brown, 1999, p. 75)

Do I need to include chapters, as well? The novel I'm doing is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

Thank you!

Remember that you need to have all sources listed in two places: the reference list after the last page of your paper (full details) and the in-text citation (just the basics).

This is the BEST website I've found for APA information. Check out the In-text Citations: The Basics to double-check your work.

Let me know what you find.

I found (author's last name, year, page #)

Thank you very much for sharing that resource!

In APA format, when citing a quote from a book, you would typically include the author's last name, the date of publication, and the page number(s) where the quote can be found.

If you are referring to a specific edition of the book, you may also include the edition information after the title of the book. For example:

Sebold, A. (2002). The Lovely Bones (1st ed.). Little, Brown.

However, including chapter information is not typically required in APA format unless you are specifically referencing a chapter within the book. The page number(s) alone should usually suffice to locate the quote you are citing.

So, to cite a quote from "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold in APA format, you would follow this format:

(Sebold, 2002, p. 75)

Make sure to double-check the publication year and page number to ensure accuracy. Also, remember to include this citation in your reference list at the end of your work, following the APA guidelines for book citations.
