(3(x^2-1)-2x+2)/(x^2-1) =
(3x^2-3-2x+2)/(x^2-1) =
(3x^2-2x-1)/(x^2-1) =
Factor the numerator and denominator:
(x-1)(3x+1)/(x-1)(x+1) = (3x+1)/(x+1).
