The quotient of a number and 3, minus 1, equals 5/3. Find the number.

  • math -

    (x/3) - 1 = 5/3

    x/3 = 5/3 + 3/3

    x/3 = 8/3

    x = (8/3) * 3

    x = 24/3

    x = 8
