During the early 20th century, Americans saw themselves as different than Europeans and used art to reflect this idea.

  • Art History -

    "Americans"? Generalizations muddle thinking. Which Americans? Artists? Farmers, Republicans? Mental Health workers? Did all of them see themselves as different?
    What about Frank Lloyd Wright, or the Decomania in Miami? The Chrysler building?

    The term "Americans" is pretty vague, as is the use of "Art".
    I am wondering which Europeans also...Germans? Poles?
