Which is correct: 1/2% of 50 is 25. OR.. 1/2 of 50 is 25? The difference of this two is that choice number one has a percent sign and the second choice doesn't have a percent sign.

  • Math -

    1/2% of 50 = (1/2) * 0.01 * 50

Whenever you see a percent sign, you must divide by 100 (equivalently multiply by 0.01) to convert the percent to a decimal number
