You are right. :-)

2 (9 + 3) = 24

48/24 = 2

oh thank you so much have a good day

You're very welcome. :-)

This goes to show you how the new math is confusing everyone. As a math major from 40 years ago. What is wrong with the old way of doing it when you got the correct answer. Obviously the new way is not working for the younger generation when they can't get the correct answer and the correct answer is what counts in mathematics.

To solve this equation correctly, we need to follow the order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS). Each letter stands for a step in the order of operations:

P: Parentheses/Brackets
E: Exponents/Indices
MD/AS: Multiplication and Division/ Addition and Subtraction (from left to right)

Let's break down the given equation step by step:

48 ÷ 2(9 + 3)

First, we need to simplify the expression inside the parentheses:
9 + 3 = 12

Now, the equation becomes:
48 ÷ 2(12)

According to the order of operations, we need to perform the multiplication before division. Thus, we multiply 2 by 12:
2 × 12 = 24

Now, the equation becomes:
48 ÷ 24

Finally, we perform the division:
48 ÷ 24 = 2

Therefore, the correct answer is 2, not 288.
