If F is between E and G, and EF = 8x - 14, FG = 4x -1 and EG =59, then what does x equal?

  • geometry -

    8x - 14 + 4x - 1 = 59

    12 x - 15 = 59

    12 x = 74

    x = 37/6

  • geometry -

    If EF=10x+12,FG=14,and EG=136, find the value of x.
