On a map, 1 inch equals 17.5miles. If two cities are 1.5 inches apart on the map, how far are they actually apart?

    Cross multiply and solve for x.

    1/17.5 = 1.5/x

  • Algebra -

    1.5 * 17.5 = 26.25 miles
