A satellite has a mass of 5.98*10^24 kg.if this satellite is t be placed into a circular orbit 300km above the earths surface, what speed, period and radial acceleration must it have

  • earth -

    Gravity:

    Force Gravity=centripetal force

    GMe*ms/d^2=ms*v^2/d

Notice the mass of the satellite ms divides out.

Remember that d is altitude+radius earth.

    solve for v.
