Write this statement out as an equation and solve.
Two thirds the sum of 30 and a number is 26.

    (2/3)(30 + x) = 26

    20 + (2/3)x = 26

    (2/3)x = 6

    x = 6 / (2/3)

    x = 6 * (3/2)

    x = 9
