A mass of 0.77 kg, hanging from a spring with a spring constant of 37 N/m, is set into an up-and-down simple harmonic motion. What is the speed of the mass when moving through the equilibrium point? The starting displacement from equilibrium is 0.2 m.
[Answer in meters/second]

  • Physics -

    A=0.2 m,
    ω=sqrt(k/m)=sqrt(37/0.77)=6.9 rad/s.
    v=v(max) = A•ω =0.2• 6.9 =1.39 m/s
