How many atoms of each element are in this compound? MgBr2

A. 2 magnesium atoms and 2 bromine atoms

B. 2 magnesium atom and 2 bromine atoms

C. 2 magnesium atoms and 1 bromine atom

D. 1 magnesium atom and 2 bromine atoms

What is your problem here? The subscripts (or what passes for subscripts) tell you how many atoms are there.

Its D..!!...the 2 after the Br means its attached to that element..so read as 2 X Br....there is nothing after the Mg...so that means there ais only one
    So therefore its D...
