I'm having trouble with this question....Eli kept a record of how many baskets each team member made in 10 tries. Which is the BEST data display for Eli to use to show this data? I know it is not a circle graph or a line plot. I have it narrowed down to either a line plot or a pictograph. I know a line plot shows frequency of the number of baskets made out of 10 tries for all of the players on the team but it would not compare the number of baskets made by each player like a pictograph would. How do I decide which it would be?

To help decide between a line plot and a pictograph, you should consider the purpose of the data display and the information you want to convey.

A line plot is a suitable choice when you want to show the frequency or distribution of data points across a set of categories. It would be useful if you want to visually represent the number of baskets made by each team member and see the variation among them in a comparative manner. A line plot could display the number of baskets made by each player for all 10 tries, allowing you to see the range of values and identify any outliers or patterns.

On the other hand, a pictograph uses pictures or symbols to represent data values. Pictographs are effective when the emphasis is on comparing quantities or frequencies visually. Each picture/symbol would represent a certain number of baskets made by a team member, making it easier to compare the performance of different players in terms of their total baskets made.

Consider what you want to highlight: Is it the individual performances of each player or the overall distribution of baskets made? If you want to compare the number of baskets made by each player directly and emphasize the individual performances, a pictograph would be more suitable. However, if your goal is to show the frequency distribution across all team members and identify patterns or outliers, a line plot would be a better choice.

Ultimately, the decision between a line plot and a pictograph depends on what message and insights you want to convey with the data.
