    without getting too specific, it enumerates various rights and restricts the government from infringing on them.

    For example, the colonists had first-hand knowledge of how valuable it was to have handy weapons during times of government oppression. The 2nd amendment stipulates that the people have a right to keep and bear arms. Most dictators assume vast power by disarming the populace, so they can run roughshod and unopposed.

    I have a nice shirt with pictures of various tyrants: Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Il, Mao Zedong, etc., and the caption:

    Experts agree: Gun control works!
