Assume that the Starship Enterprise is moving through space at the speed of light. Calculate how much kinetic energy the ship has at this speed. The Enterprise has a mass of 1*10^6kg. Now imagine that Captain Kirk wants to bring the ship to a complete stop in a distance of 30km. What braking or stopping force would be required to accomplish this?

The kinetic energy would be infinite at the speed of light. It is NOT (1/2)M V^2.

The ship would have to travel at a lower speed.

Perhaps the teacher is unaware of the Theory of Relativity. If so, he or she should not be teaching this subject.
