Solve: y-4/y+1=2/5 would the answer be 14/3 ???

  • Math -

    arrggh - use parentheses
    Perhaps you mean

    (y-4)/(y+1)=2/5

    5 y - 20 = 2 y + 2

    3 y = 22

    y = 22/3

    Thank you
