the number N of aluminum cans used each year varies directly as the number of people p using the cans. if 58 people us 23,432 cans in one year, how many cans are used in a cith which has a population of 1,956,000

  • algebra -

    N = kp

    find k:

    23432 = 58k

    Now, having k,

    N = 1956000k

    Or, in other words,

    N/1956000 = 23432/58
