Carol reads four times as many pages than John. They read 40 pages together. How many more pages did Carol read than John.
My answer is Carol read 16 pages more than John. Am I correct.

Let x = the number of pages that John read.
x + 4x = 40
5x = 40
x = 8
John read 8 pages.
Carol read 8 * 4 = 32 pages
32 + 8 = 40
