a soccer ball is kicked on the ground at 8m/s. another player is standing 30 m away.
if she needs to intercept it at 20m - how much time does she have and how fast must she run?

    "30 cm away" does not adequately describe her location relative to the path of the ball.

    Assuming the ball is kicked toward the other player:

    The ball reaches the 20m point in t = 20/8 = 2.5 sec. meaning the receiver must run at the speed of 10/2.5 = 4m/s to intercept the ball in the same 2.5sec. time period.
