what weight of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate are required to make 500 mL of 0.35M BUFFER,pH 9.0 (pKa=9.8)

  1. DrBob222

    pH = pKa + log(base)/(acid)
    Substitute and solve for b/a
    Then b + a 0.35.
    Solve the two equations simultaneously to obtain concns in molarity for base and acid. Then convert to grams for 500 mL of each.
