I have to write a causal analysis to the Frederick Douglass speech "What to the slaves is the Fourth of July?" I am having trouble doing this.

Clearly the effect is how you think slaves might have felt about 4th of July celebrations.
The causes? What events/conditions/situations do you believe made slaves feel this way.
