Which numbr is greater than 3/4.

The possible answers are 75/100 , 11/12, 2/3 or 3/8.

I thought that I would try the method of making the denominator the same by the lcd.

75/100 is equal to 3/4

mult denom/number by 3 and got 9/12
so don't know how to compare 11/12

not sure how to compare the 2/3 and 3/8

Look at the fractions. 75/100 = each number is divisible by 25 = 3/4 (the same) / 11/12 = take 3/4 X 3 = 9/12 (that is smaller than 11/12 / 2/3 = take that x 4 = 8/12 (smaller than 9/12 / 3/8 = 2 x 3/4 = 6/8 and THAT is larger than 3/8

You were on the right track but just needed to go further.

To determine which number is greater than 3/4 among the options given (75/100, 11/12, 2/3, or 3/8), you can follow a few steps:

1. Convert all the fractions to have a common denominator. In this case, the lowest common denominator (LCD) would be 12.

- 75/100 can be simplified to 3/4 since both the numerator and denominator can be divided by 25.
- To convert 11/12 to an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 12, you can multiply both the numerator and denominator by 1, resulting in 11/12.
- To convert 2/3 to an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 12, you need to multiply both the numerator and denominator by 4, giving you 8/12.
- To convert 3/8 to an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 12, you need to multiply both the numerator and denominator by 3, resulting in 9/12.

2. Now that all the fractions have a common denominator of 12, you can compare their numerators. The greater the numerator, the greater the fraction.

- 3/4 (which is simplified from 75/100) has a numerator of 3.
- 11/12 has a numerator of 11.
- 8/12 (which is equivalent to 2/3) has a numerator of 8.
- 9/12 (which is equivalent to 3/8) has a numerator of 9.

Comparing the numerators, you can see that 11 is greater than 9, which is greater than both 8 and 3. Therefore, the fraction 11/12 is the greatest among the options given and is greater than 3/4.
