1. Express your answer in the form y=mx+b.
(7,8); x+7y=6
2. Express your answer in the form y=mx+b.
(-4,8); 8x=7y+9
3. Express your answer in the form y=mx+b.
(8,9); 5x+y=9
4. Express your answer in the form y=mx+b.
(2,-6); 8x+7y=5
I don't get ANY of this at all! Please help!
I don't "get" them either. The listed (x,y) points in parentheses do not lie on the curves given by the accompanying equation.
Are you supposed to come up with a new equation in y = mx = b form that is PARALLEL to the indicated equation an goes through the point given?
Equations like
x + 7y = 6
can always be rewritten in y = mx = b form, but that is probably not what they want.
