denominator of a fraction is 1 more than its numerator. the fraction reduces to one fourth when numerator is reduced by 2 and denominator is increased by 3. find the number

Oriningal fraction  x/(x+1)
new result:
(x2)/(x+4) = 1/4
crossmultiply
4x  8 = x+4
3x = 12
x = 4
original fraction  4/5
check:
new fraction :
(42)/(5+3) = 2/8
which is 1/4
