Calculate the lateral and surface areas of a prism whose height is 12 cm and whose base is a rectangle with dimensions 5 cm by 7 cm.

  • geometry -

    I'm assuming this is a right prism meaning all edges are perpendicular and
    form rt angles.

    Al = Ph = (2W + 2L)h,
    Al = (2*5 + 2*7)12 = 288cm^2. = Lateral
    area.

    As = 2(w*h) + 2(l*h) + (2(w*l),
    As=2(5*12) + 2(7*12) + 2(5*7) = 358cm^2
    = Surface area.
