i have more than 9 but less than 16 marbles.
There are half as many red as blue. There
are two more green than blue. There is an
odd number of yellow. What do I have?
I got 13 marbles not too sure but I think: red= 2 blue = 4 green = 6 and yellow = 1
Thank you so much that helped a lot, i was stressed out over this question. thanks a lot! :)
To solve the problem, we need to analyze the given information and find a solution that satisfies all the conditions.
Let's denote the number of blue marbles as "x." According to the given information:
- The number of red marbles is half as many as blue marbles.
- The number of green marbles is two more than blue marbles.
- There is an odd number of yellow marbles.
Using these conditions, we can set up the following equations:
Number of red marbles = x/2
Number of green marbles = x + 2
Number of yellow marbles = odd number
Now, we need to find a value for "x" such that the total number of marbles is more than 9 but less than 16. Let's test each value within this range and see if it satisfies all the conditions.
If we start with x = 2 (blue marbles), then:
Number of red marbles = 2/2 = 1
Number of green marbles = 2 + 2 = 4
Number of yellow marbles = odd number (not defined)
Since we need an odd number of yellow marbles, the current setup doesn't satisfy all the conditions.
Let's try x = 3 (blue marbles):
Number of red marbles = 3/2 = 1.5 (not valid)
Thus, x = 3 doesn't satisfy the conditions.
Now let's try x = 4 (blue marbles):
Number of red marbles = 4/2 = 2
Number of green marbles = 4 + 2 = 6
Number of yellow marbles = odd number
Since we have an even number of blue marbles, x = 4 satisfies all the conditions. Therefore, you have 4 blue marbles, 2 red marbles, 6 green marbles, and an odd number of yellow marbles.
